Your brand image is like your fingerprint. It’s complex and unique. It belongs only to you. Interestingly, branding includes more than just font, colors and logo design, though these are very important aspects. Branding is an experience and a journey provided to the customer. From outward appearance, to more intricate processes, UX design to CX, you’re taking the customer where they would want to go; you’re telling them a story. At the end, it’s up to the customer whether or not they’ll take it or leave it. But don’t worry, there’s still much you can control with your brand image to persuade and inspire the customer.
Follow along with us in today’s post to learn how brand image affects your company. Here we’re going to define and discuss what brand image is, what brand identity is, and lastly, watch a hilarious TikTok video to see who is doing their logo design horribly wrong.
On a side note, make sure you identify where you’re at now, what your practical goals are, and even, what are those daydreams of yours? Is there a brand you totally and wholly admire? You can always take a closer look at them to see what they’re doing well, and try to understand who their audience is. Who knows what good ideas you’ll find that you can steal and adapt.
The Branding Journey is always about the customer, your targeted audience.
When it comes to expanding your business and presence virtually, it’s too easy to lose customers’ attention. Anything from an old, clunky website or unappealing colors will have a dramatic effect on the CX journey. First impressions have a role to play. Now, you can’t wow everyone, and you shouldn’t, but you want to make a solid brand image strategy to increase your chances in having a very good first impression.
Let’s understand what we’re dealing with here. By breaking apart Brand Image and Brand Identity you can understand ‘Brand’ better and make well-informed choices for developing your own strategy.
1. Brand Image
Think perception. Wait, Inception? Nope, though the film will surely give you some mesmerizing points of views. According to Google, ‘perception’ is the ability to see, hear or become aware of something from the senses; a way of understanding and interpreting something. Brand Image is the way CUSTOMERS perceive or view you. Things like beliefs, ideas, values, emotion, impressions and reputation are all involved.
2. Brand Identity
Now, what’s the deal with brand identity? Brand identity is the WAY you want customers to perceive YOU. So you act, talk, walk, per say, in a way that will relate with the customer and get them interested. Things like your logo and tagline, language, tone (and personality), as well as aesthetic style (fonts and colors, your look, visuals) make up Brand Identity.
A strong brand image plays an important role. Look at these powerful 3 R’s to see what it effects. A great brand image…
- Improves Recognition
- The key for customers to recognize you is consistency in all aspects
- Is your customer able to spot you from ‘afar?’
- Or does your company look different each time? This will have a negative impact. Know thyself–What’s your story?
- Produces Referrals
- A bond has been made after a connection, and that builds trust; so the customer will gladly tell others about it– yes, word of mouth is still very much alive, and now it exists in person and online more than ever.
- Increases Revenue
- If the customer got what they needed and trusts you due to your strong brand image and identity, they will make more purchasing decisions, and you can expect to see them back.
Did you know over half of consumers, about 66% of people, value a transparent brand?
Being transparent can mean a lot things; for starters, it’s being available, open and honest. It’s actually a long-term strategy that you can plan ahead towards, like creating video content to help show your transparency and build trust. Along with brand transparency, it’s great to prioritize consistency, authenticity (sincere emotion) and clarity within your brand and customers.
How do you want others to perceive you?
Even though brand isn’t just about logo, logo acts as a crucial organ to an entire body. Anyone is able to notice a well done logo and a poorly done logo, but more so, a weak or badly produced one. Just check this video out to see for yourself.
